Mount Lofty Downhill Bike Trip

Can't recommend this highly enough. Ian was so great, very friendly, flexible, and encouraging. There were 2 of us so Ian adapted our ride to skip the wildlife park and make the ride a little longer instead. It was brilliant - stunning views, ride was challenging enough to give me a taste of mtb but not so hard it wasn't achievable or enjoyable. I would highly recommend this as a unique, more active way of experiencing Adelaide.

The ride from the top of Mt Lofty was just terrific. What could be better - get picked up in the morning, whisked up to the top of Mt Lofty and then pointed downhill to ride through some stunning bush scenery and suburbs of Adelaide. You also get a stop at Cleland Wildlife park and to hand feed the animals. Fantastic day, well recommended. Ian made the day most enjoyable.

We loved the ride through the hills & the suburbs that you pop out in to are just gorgeous. A few resident koala's added that extra bit of cuteness & Ian was very informative with aspects of the area. The Coffee & hot chocolate were certainly appreciated on what was a rather freezing day. I honestly didn't want the tour to end. I would certainly recommend this trip.

We had a fantastic experience on a very wet and cold day! With just 4 in our group this was a real personalized experience. Our guide, Lee, was excellent and took good care of us. Lots of variety in the ride and the wildlife park and lovely morning tea (with open fire) was a bonus. Excellent coffee too. Highly recommend this trip.

This was by far one of the coolest things I’ve done in Australia! Lee picked me up in the van in the morning and we headed up to the top of the mountain. I’m used to biking, but haven’t done much mountain biking. Lee did a great job making sure I was doing ok and going at a comfortable pace. The bike had good suspensions, which was great!

Visiting the wild life area was amazing! I didn’t realize we’d get to feed kangaroos and wallabies from our hand! It was such an amazing time and I was even able to get up close with a kuwalla. We got to the park before all the tourists showed up, which was so cool - it felt like we had the park to ourselves. Having a coffee and snack there was a nice treat.

The mountain biking was really fun! Once we were done with the mountain, we cruised through beautiful neighborhoods and a park. Afterwards, I was dropped off where I requested.

I highly recommend this tour. Lee was a great guide, it was well organized, safe, fun, and adventurous!

Pretty comfortable ride down, not too challenging for my wife who hasn’t been on a bike for 20 years.

Added bonus was the wildlife park, if you have never hand feed our native wildlife, this place is for you. Koalas, Kangaroos, birds, lots of smaller mammals and dingoes.

It was one of our holiday highlights.
The bike tour was perfect for all Levels of ability even a beginner like me. The morning tea, wildlife park, nature trail which included seeing koalas in their natural habitat, not forgetting the great view of Adelaide where we began our descent from the top of Mt Lofty. Ian was so easy going and professional. The bikes were fantastic. It was exhilarating and fun. If you can ride a bike this is a must do! If you are an overseas visitor this is a great opportunity to have an up close and personal opportunity to meet out native wildlife!!!

We had a wonderful time on our descent of Mount Lofty with [the tour operator], it was something different to do while staying in Adelaide, and we highly recommend this company.

The night before the ride we had communication with Ian due to some forecast stormy weather. In the morning Ian contacted us again to confirm it looked OK to go, and we agreed. It was great to have this communication.

It turned out we were the only two booked on the ride that day. Even though minimum numbers are more than this, Ian kindly agreed to take us as he knew we had booked a long way in advance and had booked direct with him (nice to know that does make a difference sometimes).

The ride itself was great fun. I've not done mountain biking before but with some tips from Ian, and a suitable pace (not too fast and not too slow either), it was an exciting ride down. There were a few tricky spots where the track had become washed out, but only one place where I got off. My partner who is more used to mountain biking loved the ride.

We also enjoyed the visit to the Cleland Wildlife Park, which shows you are never too old to feed kangaroos and emus, or to ooh & ahh at the koala bears (and we are 54 & 64). There was even time for coffee and cake before the ride continued.

As we carried on down through the gorge it was an added bonus to see a couple of koalas in the wild. The final part of the ride took us through Adelaide suburbs, which we found equally interesting. Chance to see some lovely houses and gardens in an area we'd not seen before.

We are so glad we did this trip with Ian. It brought a little bit of adventure to our stay in Adelaide. It really worked as a long half day and with the wildlife park included for variety. Thank you Ian for a great ride.

What a wild, fun experience that was! Today my husband and I both mountain biked down from Mount Lofty under the guidance of our awesome guide, Lee. We both had moderate experience on road bikes but had never ridden on rocky tracks before. My husband picked it up easily....I took a little bit of warming up first but quickly was able to relax into and enjoy the ride. It’s not a physically demanding ride at all as it’s 99% downhill so I was able to concentrate on and enjoy the riding and scenery. Our stop at Cleland Wildlife Park was also great, heaps of cool animals to get up close and personal to. Highly recommend if you are up for a bit of an adventure and different way to experience to South Australian wildlife and beauty of the bush.
