Erie Canalway Trail

Amazing trip, cycling along the Erie Canal with [the tour operator]. Diane and her team planned a perfect trip and provided support to our group. She provides regular bikes and electric bikes both are in great condition and up to the task. We rode 404 miles with no problems. This is a great way to see the countryside and learn the history of the Erie Canal.

The Erie Canal trail is gorgeous. The trail surface is smooth and easy to ride on. This was our first guided tour, so we were pleased that we had the flexibility to make our own decisions about when to start and stop riding. Trail is mostly flat and none of the hills are difficult.

While I couldn't finish the Erie Canal ride due to an unfortunate fall in some gravel, I continued on with my friends, in the sag wagon, and still had a nice time. Diane was so kind and considerate, even dropping me off from time to time to visit some sites while the rest of our group biked to the next town. My husband thoroughly enjoyed himself and immediately began talking about the next trip with [the tour operator]!

We traveled from Portland Oregon to New York to cycle the Erie Canal route from Buffalo to Albany. It was a beautiful tour of the historic canal and the scenic upstate NY countryside. Diane did an amazing job organizing and supporting our trip. Looking forward to the next adventure. Thank You!

I waited a bit so that I could fully process this trip before writing a review. This trip could absolutely not have been any better! Everything was perfect - my bike was top of the line, the support was great, but most of all the company was as good as it gets; starting with Diane and Ron and her sense of humor and leadership. The other riders on the trip were great people and the socializing during the ride and at the end of the day was a huge part of my experience. This was not an easy ride for me - putting together 25-55 mile a day rides for 9 days is not easy, we were all in it together and everyone helped each other with directions and support; the experience, scenery, museums, just everything could not have been better!

Great bike tour, with so much history on the Erie Canal. Diane and Ron were very gracious hosts, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay most enjoyable, whether it was on the trail or off. One of the guest was having a milestone birthday so we approached Diane about wanting to do something. Diane picked up a card and a cake to help us all celebrate.

It was the high point of my bicycling adventure, doing the whole Erie Canal. Diane and her team got us prepped and stayed with us through the whole 400+ mile experience. I measure all the subsequent trips, and find them lacking in intensity. Diane and Ron crated the perfect setting for me to realize my biking ambition. The trip was great, a credit to our hosts. Of the many cycling tours I have done this one rates at the top. Learning of the history of the amazing Erie Canal was itself worth the trip. Adding so much information on the early Americans who settled this beautiful area was a huge bonus.
I highly recommend this tour to cyclists interested in a very worthwhile experience.
