Plan for the day

On the northeastern side of Phuket island lies a village where the pace of life is slow and untainted by mass tourism. Cycling around rural Phuket, you will discover how local inhabitants have lived here for generations. Nature is well preserved and the community works hard in taking care of what mother earth has given them.

On your bike, you will explore various farms in the region. Here, the technique of rubber tree tapping and hand rolling into sheets are still commonly used. Phuket is renowned for its pineapples and you will see the plantations on the ride. You will navigate your way around villages and see the locals go about their daily lives. You can take a break at the fisherman's restaurant and hop on a kayak to paddle your way through the lush mangroves. If you are lucky, you will be able to spot tiny red crabs crawling on the roots. You will end your active day with a small trek to a gibbon rehabilitation center and take a hike up a waterfall.

You will mostly ride on paved country roads, with occasional dirt tracks as you're cutting through farms and some sections on the main road. This is an active 18 km (11 mi) ride with some undulations and short hills to tackle.
