Itinerary Details

Ride The Trail and Bike The Wineries

This adventure starts with a shuttle from the Tour Operator's Queenstown shop to Arrowtown, one of New Zealand’s most picturesque spots. Upon arrival, you’ll be equipped with everything for a fantastic day of riding: a high-quality mountain or E-bike, a helmet, a trail map, and a full briefing on the day’s journey. Explore Arrowtown, once a bustling gold-mining settlement, grab a coffee at a local café, or jump straight into your ride.

The trail follows the Arrow River downstream, winding through willow-lined paths and crossing dramatic swing bridges. Soon, you’ll reach the Kawarau Suspension Bridge, famous as the birthplace of bungee jumping, and the gateway to the Gibbston Wine Valley. From here, take your time biking along the scenic Gibbston River Trail. During the winter season, cycle through snow-capped mountains towering above, vineyards at every turn and the Kawarau River flowing through the rocky gorge below. This is undoubtedly one of New Zealand's premier scenic bike trails.

The cellar doors of Gibbston are all linked by an easy-riding trail. A winery map will help you decide which of the venues to visit, with plenty of opportunity to sample what this world-class wine destination has to offer. You could take a picnic to have en route, or stop for lunch at one of the venues.

The riding distance to the first winery is 15 km (9 miles) and it’s 25 km (16 miles) to the end of the wine valley. You will be collected at 4:00 pm from your winery of choice for the shuttle back to Queenstown.
