Italy is a land that inspires romantic notions. The delicious food, fine culture, intriguing history, and gorgeous landscapes all combine to conjure up an image that has people scrambling to explore this country. Pedaling on a bicycle through unique regions and sampling the magic of Italia up close is a trip of a lifetime. Setting off from the medieval city of Siena on the second day is an exquisite way to begin. Accompanied by a local and knowledgeable guide you will wind your way through the Chianti Hills where you can be witnesses to the source of the world famous Chianti wines. Along the way you’ll be accompanied by enchanting landscapes of vineyards and rolling hills with some time to enjoy a cappuccino and cornetto.
Your third day of riding brings you to Val d’Arbia valley. This gorgeous carpet of green, dotted with picturesque villages, is the perfect route for riding. Round it off by sampling Montalcino’s finest and famous Brunello wines with dinner that evening.
The fourth day of riding will be unforgettable not just because of the brilliant scenery but of the challenging 10km (6.2mi) ascent into Montalcino. All that pedaling will be worth it as you enjoy lunch and recover at a typical trattoria.
The twists and turns continue to lead you on the fifth day as you cycle through the maze of villages which typify the Tuscan region. The dominating castle in Radicofani steals the show today; afterwards, enter the region of Lazio and rest your legs in historic Acquapendente.
Further into the trip, Pitigliano catches the eye, a quiet, beautiful town with a 16th-century synagogue that’s now a historic center. Head for the tranquil Lake Bolsena which indicates your return into the Lazio region.
Your last day starts with a sumptuous breakfast where you can reminisce with your group about this wonderful journey before being transferred back to Siena.
