Embark on an independent self-guided bike tour of Turkey's rugged southwest coast, making use of occasional transfers to give you the best rides available over 8 days. Showcasing the natural beauty, cultural values and stunning archaeological sites of the area, you will have all day to ride the route at your own pace, stopping wherever you fancy to taste the fresh fruit for sale, drink a tea in one of the local cafes or simply soak up the views. Ride on very quiet but well-surfaced roads. The roads are a good mix of flat and hilly, with some steep ascents in places, where the low gears of the bikes are welcome.
The tour starts in Dalyan, home to the scenic river of the same name with ancient tombs cut into the rocks to make a truly incredible sight. From here, the tour takes you past Koycegiz lake, Iztuzu beach and Turtle sanctuary, the yachting hub of Gocek, Kayakoy - the abandoned Greek town, Faralya with the fjord-like cliffs of Butterfly Valley, Alinca on the Seven Capes, Patara with its pristine untouched beach and the Roman Capital City of Kas with its cosmopolitan bars and nightlife.
You can also add days of touring or relaxation at the ends or even in the middle of the tour, in one of the small hotels that are hand-picked for you. The tour can start at any time of the year on any day, although it is recommended that you avoid the big religious holidays when the coastal towns get very busy. The tour is not available in late June, July and August due to very high temperatures.
