Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Gentle beginnings in Petchaburi

With the formalities of meet and greets out of the way, you'll be transferred from Bangkok to Petchaburi where the real business begins.

Begin by slowly pedaling your way out into the countryside of Thailand. This is not your average countryside though as paddy fields and palm trees flank your bikes. It does not take long for beaches to enter the equation as you ride into Cha-am and the resort town of Hua Hin. This spectacular location is renowned for being a Thai royalty favorite with the current king using his summer palace retreat on the fringes of the town. Round off the first day by riding along the main road, but should traffic prove too interfering there will be a transfer to the hotel. On this particular occasion you'll be fortunate to dine out on a pier right in the middle of town.

Bikes are available for hire. Standard road bikes cost USD 240 and Carbon road bikes cost USD 360.
The bikes are Trek 2.1 C, Domane 2.0 and carbon Émonda S5 road bikes, with Shimano components and seat posts. If you have your own saddle that you are comfortable with, you are welcome to bring it, and the tour operator will assist in fitting it in. Strap-style toe cages can be provided upon request, but you might like to consider bringing SPD clip pedals if you use them, and please make sure to bring your shoes and cleats. If you bring your own bike, please make sure it is a road bike in good mechanical order.

  2. Day 2Lap up the limestone cliffs

Having waved goodbye to Hua Hin, next up is a sight which will live long in the memory – Sam Roi Yot National Park. Translating as 300 hundred peaks, you'll ride past breath-taking limestone rock formations that jut out and dominate the skyline. In between, there will be freshwater marshes but the striking limestone peaks still remain in the background even while cycling on quiet back roads.

After such a jaw-dropping main section of the day, it'll be concluded by drifting along the beach to Prachaup Khiri Khan. The night's accommodation is noted for its spectacular views alongside some of the best seafood in Thailand – no mean feat! A hearty supper is on the cards and you deserve it.

  3. Day 3Riding further away off the tourist trail

Thailand has a booming tourist trade and discovering the unknown can prove tricky sometimes, but not for you. This ride takes you away from the jam packed tourist locations.

Having left the hotel you'll move firmly into the quieter backroads of Thailand. This section can be transferred if you prefer but it also represents a chance to ride peacefully on some excellent roads. You'll be staying at a beautiful resort where hammocks are provided and it’s easy to just let go and take in everything that occurred on yet another dream of a day.

You will definitely be spoiled on this tour.

  5. Day 5Big day back on the bike

Get those legs pumping again as you tick off the kilometers on a big day of riding. Today you'll go through 118 kilometers, but do so by sticking to quieter roads so it feels a lot more comfortable. Sticking to the coastline provides you with serene sea views on one side and mountains on the right. Such incredible scenery provides motivation to keep you going as you finish up your day’s work at a secluded beach just slightly north of Chumpon.

  6. Day 6Crossing the Kra Isthmus

After some plain sailing riding, mix things up by tackling some hills plus some twists and turns. This makes for a new challenge but just like the previous days the scenery ensures you will have plenty to keep your eyes occupied.

The route takes you across the Kra Isthmus Canal, which splits the Gulf of Thailand from the Adaman Sea. Having pushed yourself up a climb from the beautiful Pun Ya Ban waterfall, you can speed downhill on the other side towards the spa town of Ranong. Luxury awaits as the chosen hotel provides a hot mineral spring pool to help you recuperate in style after an incredible day.

  7. Day 7Rolling through the valleys

Today another varied ride presents itself from your usual coastal excursions as you ascend and descend some beautiful valleys. These are not extreme climbs and are easily achievable, particularly as you are encouraged by the waving and smiling children from local villages.

The ride along beautiful vistas finishes in a valley that is buried deep in the tropical rainforest. It is here where a small resort is located to stay in for the night.

  8. Day 8Aiming our wheels for the south

Your valley to valley riding continues today as you burrow further south towards Khao Lak. You'll be passing through the former Portuguese settlement of Takura Pa and it's at this stage where the road begins to flatten again.

Later on you'll be passing through an area devastated by the 2004 Tsunami, though you will be pleased to note that little devastation remains from such a terrible time and that the area has rebuilt strongly. The hotel on this evening is right next to the beach but contains a catch – a small hill climb to reach it. It is worth it for the relaxation awaiting though.

Bar a few hills to conquer, today’s cycling is easy going and upon leaving Khao Lak you can drift on flatter roads all the way to the end. Have a memento of this trip by taking a photo on the bridge which connects Phuket to the mainland.

Last thing to do is reach the incredible resort on Nai Yang Beach and enjoy one final incredible dinner together and some drinks.
