One of the most attractive cycling tours in France, the itinerary is based on French first “voie verte”, following the path of an abandoned railway line. You'll enjoy the authenticity of the little villages on the vineyard slopes: winegrowers’ houses with galleries, dovecotes, little Romanesque churches, washhouses, etc. Discover the wines of the côte Chalonnaise: the best-known appellations (Mercurey, Rully, Givry, Montagny) are of remarkable quality and finesse. Taste the wines of the Côte de Beaune: Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Pommard.
The daily distances are not that great and the terrain is mostly level so there’s plenty of time to stop for a break or to explore further. The region’s wine culture is very much in evidence along the whole route and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop and learn more and even taste the local produce.
