  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends in Brisbane, Queensland. International and domestic flights are serviced by the Brisbane Airport (BNE)

  • How long is the tour? How many days riding?

The tour is 9 days long with 7 days riding.

  • What's the tour like?

This tour is graded as easy to medium.  There are no major ascents or hills to climb and distances are moderate, averaging around 45kms (27.9mi) over the course of a full day. There is no hurry and tours are run at a very relaxed pace, with lots of photo stops, drink stops, food stops and just resting stops!

The only real challenge is the consecutive days riding, which for non or semi regular riders may create some "sensitivity" from sitting on a bike seat so we do recommend some riding before arriving.

The Rail Trails are a mixed of paved surfaces and dirt tracks, so you should be OK riding on surfaces other than road or paths.

  • Can I hire a bike?

Trek MTB bikes (hardtail) are included in the tour while an upgrade to a Trek e-MTB is available.

You have the option to BYO a bike for the tour. A mountain bike is recommended as there are dirt and bumpy sections on this tour. The trail isn't very technical but thick tyres and some suspension will make a big difference to comfort levels and puncture prevention.

  • Is there a minimum age?

Yes, 18 is the minimum age for the tour.

  • If I'm travelling alone, will I have to pay more?

If you wish to have your own room or are travelling alone then a single supplement is payable.

  • Are helmets required?

A helmet is required to be worn on all biking activities and is non-negotiable. If you do not wear a helmet you won't be allowed to cycle.

The tour operator does have helmets available to hire but if you have your own this is preferable so that you are comfortable with a well-fitted helmet.

  • How big is the group?

Group size is strictly limited to 10 riders per tour

  • Can you tell me more about the trails?

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail 161kms (100mi)
This recently completed cycling and walking path is a fantastic feat of development by the local councils and volunteers. At 161kms in length, it is the longest rail trail in Australia. It is a mixed surface cycling trail, and so we use well-equipped mountain bikes. Although small sections are paved, the majority of the trail is either hard packed gravel or dirt track. There are some stunning bridges, some we cross and some we go under, and being elevated at the northern end there are terrific views. It’s undeniably outback Queensland but a couple of gourmet secrets can be visited to enjoy some quality meals. Cycling the BVRT is a little bit of an adventure. It’s still on the easy side in terms of difficulty, the distances aren’t great and we start at the northern end so it’s largely downhill. But it’s not a paved path (and not a mountain bike single track either, but somewhere in between). So some basic biking skills are required.

Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail 90kms (55.9mi)
Sometimes referred to as the South Burnett Rail Trail, this mixed surface ride is the ideal add on to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Located literally next door with a connecting trail that in itself is an adventure. A full day of this trail is sealed and includes a winery visit, a highlight.

    Sunshine Coast Trails & Noosa 35kms (21.7)
There's no better way to finish this inland cycling trip than with a visit to the coastal paradise of Noosa. And being so close to the finish of the Kingaroy Rail Trail it’s an easy add on. We enjoy an optional day of cycling the Sunshine Coast trails, or just relax and explore the beaches, restaurants and shops of beautiful Noosa Heads. 2 nights beachside luxury!
