Itinerary Details

Tour Brief

A very scenic cycle featuring some of the region's favourite wineries, a very popular tour!

Meet at the base in Ahuriri, Napier or a pick up can be arranged from your local accommodation. You will then be transferred to the start of your adventure at the Black Barn winery. Te Mata Estate and Akarangi are very close by so you can start your wine tasting early! Take a detour to Craggy Range along a new bike path - approx 4km there and back. You will enjoy a 16km cycle on the limestone cycle trail following the Tuki Tuki River, to the coastal communities of Haumoana and Te Awanga. The views are stunning as you cycle the raised stop-bank trail and look out over orchards, vineyards and farmlands.

Reaching the coast you’ll be ready to taste some more fine wine at Elephant Hill, Clearview Estate and Te Awanga Estate. If lunch is on your ‘wish list’ it is highly recommended to book in advance (Saturdays and Public Holidays lunch booking are ESSENTIAL - you won't get lunch otherwise). If you are a big group then it is recommended to book wine tastings as well (see winery links below).

NOTE that all wineries are asking for a COVID vaccine pass at present.

LUNCH: Clearview Estate is recommended (Mediterranean-style food with table service - bookings essential) or Te Awanga (who offer the best pizzas in Hawke’s Bay - you can sit outside on their green lawn so numbers aren't so limited but if you are a big group, definitely book and pre-order your pizzas/platters), as well as Elephant Hill who have amazing platters to enjoy on their scenic terrace.

Allow 6hrs for this tour. At the end of the day, you will be collected and transferred back to Ahuriri or your accommodation if required. Note that any wine-tasting costs and lunch are not included in the price of the tour.
