  • Where does the tour start and end?

    The tour starts and ends in Nelson on the South Island of New Zealand. Nelson has its own airport (NSN) which connects to other airports within NZ. Both Christchurch Airport (CHC) and Wellington Airport (WLG) are international airports relatively closeby that connect with Nelson.

  • How long is the tour? How many days cycling?

    The standard tour is 4 days long with 4 days of cycling. There are options to extend the tour, either with an extra night in Mapua or in Kaiteriteri.

  • What's the tour like?

    The tour will take you on a delightful meander from Kohatu - Stoke - Mapua - Motueka - Kaiteriteri.The route includes all the off-road Great Taste Trail including the new Spooners Tunnel section.

    The tour is self-guided with detailed maps and information, centering around the attractions, landscape, fantastic food and drink on offer in the region. There's plenty on offer for all ranges and the tour operator states that this tour is also suitable for families with keen junior cyclists.

  • As the tour is self guided, how will I know where to go?

    A 'Good Things' Map is included with the tour. These are waterproof, topographic-style maps. They illustrate the tour operator's exclusive recommendations for detours off the trail to visit all their favourite places. They provide tips for the best local food, wine, craft beer, art, history and landscape.  You will have detailed instructions about where to cycle each day to reach your destination and the tour operator is simply a phone call away if there are any issues in this regard.

  • Can I extend my trip? Or visit Abel Tasman National Park?

    Yes! The tour is designed to make it easy for you to add a National Park Day to your trip. Choose the extra night 'add on' on the main page and stay a night in Kaiteriteri, at a lovely eco-lodge, the price includes the extra night's accommodation only. If you would also like to book a day in Abel Tasman National Park for the next day this can be arranged with pricing starting at $89NZD per day per adult.

    It's also possible to add an extra day in Mapua, earlier on in the tour. Please see the 'add ons' section for more information.

  • Is there a limit for the luggage transfers?

    Yes. Due to health and safety concerns, the maximum bag weight for the luggage transfers is 15kg. The tour operator can provide secure storage for extra luggage at their base.

  • If I'm driving to Nelson, is there parking available?

    Yes. The tour operator has plenty of free, off-street parking for your vehicles at their base.
