  • Can I rent a bike for the tour?

Yes,  well-known mountain bike brands of good quality can be hired for the tour.

  • What's the tour like?

The journey spans a total of 270 km over 7 cycling days, traversing two distinct geographical zones of Nepal: the Himalayan foothills and the Terai Plains. In the foothills (Days 2, 3, 8, and 9), the route features undulating terrain on a mix of gravel roads, dirt paths, and paved surfaces. While most climbs are gentle, a few steep sections offer a challenge, and the long, winding descents are a thrilling highlight. In the plains, the rides are flatter, following dirt paths, village roads, and secondary provincial roads. Several vehicle transfers before or after the rides help avoid busy main roads, ensuring the focus is on the most enjoyable routes. On Days 2 and 9, there is one full day off the bike to explore Chitwan National Park with mild hikes. Cultural highlights include the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lumbini, the hill station of Tansen, and many spontaneous encounters with friendly locals along the way.

The trip is fully supported, with your guide’s expert knowledge ensuring you are always prepared for the distance and difficulty ahead. This support, along with a constant supply of water and refreshments, makes the ride even more enjoyable.

Suitability: This moderately challenging trip is designed for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. While prior mountain biking experience is not required, comfort with navigating uneven surfaces for extended periods is important. Stamina is necessary for some sustained climbs, and good handling skills are essential for the downhills—especially on Days 2 and 8, where descents involve 1,800 to 2,700 meters of elevation loss. The overall pace is relaxed, with plenty of refreshment stops, so riders with less experience are welcome to join. The support vehicle is always nearby to assist any tired cyclists.

    Biking Conditions:
The rides feature a mix of paved roads in varying conditions, gravel paths, village lanes, and vehicle-width dirt roads. While much of the route is on quiet countryside roads with minimal traffic, some sections will be shared with cars, motorbikes, and buses, particularly near cities and popular attractions. When conditions are dry, the roads can become dusty, especially in construction zones, and when wet, they can be muddy and slippery. Riding is generally rain or shine, though the guide may make modifications to the route based on conditions or your comfort level. It’s all part of the adventure!

  • Am I safe?

The tour leader is trained in first aid and emergency rescue. But to a large degree, riders must be responsible for their own safety during the tour. It is therefore compulsory that you take out travel insurance that will cover you for a cycling tour.
