  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts in Munich, Germany and ends in Prague, Czech Republic. Munich is serviced by Flughafen München Airport (MUC) located about 20 km (12 mi) northeast of the city centre. There is a public train service from the airport to the city centre (approximately a 45-minute ride). Alternatively, taxi services are widely available as well.

Prague is serviced by Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG), located just west of the city centre. There is both public transportation and reasonably priced shuttle service available from Prague to the airport.

  • How long is the tour? How many days riding?

The tour is 11 days long with 7 days riding. Of the 4 'rest' days, 2 of these offer optional biking activities so you could cycle for 9 days of the tour if you want.

  • What's the tour like?

For full enjoyment of the trip, you should come prepared to complete the 60-95 km / 40-60 mile days comfortably on rolling to moderately hilly terrain.

The tour operator has tried to design the route along small, quiet, and picturesque roads with little car traffic and/or bike paths that enhance your sightseeing of the local areas. For the most part road surfaces will be of very good or good quality, however, you can expect small sections, where the road is not as well maintained. They suggest a road or touring bike equipped with 23-28mm tires for this tour.

  • Can I rent a bike for the tour?

Yes. The tour operator has the following fully serviced, light, quality road/fitness bikes available:

Fuji Absolute 2, 3, and 4, flat handlebars
Fuji Newest 1 and 2, drop handlebars
        Fuji Roubaix 1.3, drop handlebars

Your rental bike comes with a rear luggage rack, bungie cord, extra tube and levers, water bottle cage, pump, lock, and odometer. The price for renting a bike for this tour is $200 USD for Fuji Absolute or $270 USD for Fuji Newest and Fuji Roubaix.

  • What's the deal with food on the tour?

Breakfast every day is included on the tour. Lunches are not provided but the SAG van will supply you with water and snacks (e.g., cookies, fruit, nuts) throughout the day.

Cyclists usually do not eat big lunches, however, you are always welcome to stop in a restaurant and have a more substantial meal if you wish. In the evening, there is either a group dinner, which can be a buffet style or carefully selected meal menus, usually allowing you to choose from several choices.

Some evenings, in places where the selection is extensive, you may have dinner on your own to have a rest from us :-) and try something on your own, however, the tour operator will always give you recommendations for good places to eat.

In any case, food is one of the things the tour operator is very proud of. They have invested a lot of time in locating the best possible options for you and that applies to various “national” and local dishes as well as those of an international cuisine.

  • If I'm travelling alone, will I have to pay more?

All prices are based on 2 people sharing a room so yes, there will be an additional charge levied if you are travelling solo, to compensate for the higher cost of accommodation. This will also apply if you are travelling in a group but you would like your own room throughout the tour.

  • Please read here for a message from the tour operator regarding Covid-19:

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we were forced to cancel all our tours this year. Nevertheless, we are already getting ready for the 2021 season, the 16th season of running bike tours in Europe for you, and we are pleased to report that our schedule for next year has been finalized. The bike touring industry is expecting a huge boom next year, provided we all overcome this unfortunate pandemic situation. So register early to avoid missing out. To make it easier for you, we offer full refund of all deposits paid until February 28th, 2021. We hope to see you on the road again next year.

I had such a phenomenal time, and have nothing but positive things to say about how you ran the trip, the thoroughness with which you took care of every detail, and the thoughtfulness and kindness you showed at every turn.

In my view you were successful in achieving what you aimed to deliver, and it was just what I was looking for. I wanted something different, and that is what you provided. I loved the scenery of all 3 countries, and enjoyed the food.

It was a great trip. I enjoyed every minute of it. The route was perfect and the hotels and food were good. When I travel I want to go off the beaten track and see what a country is really like. I feel we did that. All three countries were beautiful and historically very interesting. I'm looking forward to doing another trip with you one day.
