Discover Laos' beauty on this 11-day sojourn. You will cycle from the capital city of Vientiane and finish in the country's former capital, Luang Prabang. There will only be 8 cycling days with 80km being the longest riding day on mostly paved roads, some dirt roads and the occasional pothole. The cycling is easy-going and guests are encouraged to stop, take in the surroundings, have a photo or grab a coffee. This holiday is about experiencing Laos and all it's wonder.
Laos is an amazing country and is almost untouched with it's raw beauty, unique culture and historic lands that are waiting to be explored. Apart from cycling, there are other exciting things to embark on while on tour. Animal lovers will enjoy visiting the Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife where rescued animals from illegal wildlife trade are rehabilitated and then released back into the wild. A sunrise trek to Pha Ngern Viewpoint is not to be missed where one can stand in awe of the sheer beauty that Laos is keeping secret. In Vang Vieng, inviting blue lagoons await for you to take a dip or if you prefer, Patong Cave Temple can be checked out too.
Along the way you’ll engage with and learn from local NGOs (small charities) in regards to the effect of unexploded land mines across the region, enjoy delicious local food and visit multiple UNESCO heritage sites. A landlocked paradise, Laos truly delivers the best of South East Asia in one modest, yet impressive package.
The tour operator will take you on a journey to interact and connect with local grassroot Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and the beneficiaries of a funded project of your choosing. For every tour, all riders have contributed AU$200 to go to the NGO of your choice. During the course of the tour, you are given the chance to engage with, and learn from, local NGOs. We visit no less than two NGOs during the Laos tour and spend some time learning about their projects, strategies and challenges. At the end of the tour, the riders are then empowered with new found knowledge and have the opportunity to combine the allotted donation money and make an impact towards a project of their choosing. In addition to building a profile for our impact partners, the tour operator also pays each NGO for their time and resources. We spend 1-2 hours with each NGO.
