  • Can I rent a bike for the tour?

    Yes, the bikes available to hire on this tour are modern aluminium framed, hybrid models with 24 speeds and a comfortable saddle, offering an upright riding position. The bikes come equipped with rear pannier, handlebar bag, lock, repair kit, and map holder.

    Electric bikes, smaller framed children’s bikes, trailers and tag-a-longs are also available.

    The tour operator suggests you bring your own helmet for safety and hygiene reasons. Alternatively, helmets can be hired for an additional fee.

  • What's the tour like?

    The tour has 4 full days of cycling, with approximately 30 km (18.6 mi) each day. The daily distances are not that great and the terrain is mostly level so there’s plenty of time to stop for a break or to explore further. The region’s wine culture is very much in evidence along the whole route and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop and learn more and even taste the local produce. The green-way cycle path is a delight, providing a safe environment for the whole family to enjoy the ride together.

  • Where does the tour start and end?

    The tour starts in Beaune and ends in Macon, France. Fly in/out of Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) or you can get a fast train (TGV) directly from Macon to Paris.

  • If I'm travelling by myself, do I have to pay more?

    If you are travelling solo or would like your own room then a single supplement is payable.

  • What is the 'Half Board' Upgrade?

    Half-board includes dinners, typically featuring 3-course meals (starter, main course, dessert) at local restaurants. Drinks and extras are not included and should be paid directly at the restaurant. Dinners are usually scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

    These meals are reserved at set times to ensure quality service. You will receive vouchers in your welcome pack, which must be presented at each restaurant. For this tour, two dinners are included if the half-board supplement will be availed.

  • Do I need a helmet?

    Helmets are not compulsory for adults in France, but are recommended. However, they are mandatory for children under 12, even if they are riding in a trailer attached to the bike.

  • What is included in the welcome pack?

    Upon arrival at your first hotel, you will receive a welcome folder containing all the essentials for your stay:

    - Your itinerary: This will outline your daily schedule, including hotels, activities, meals, and transportation.
    - Vouchers: These will be good for exchanging for meals at restaurants, activities at various sites, and hotel stays.
    - Luggage tags: If you’ve opted for baggage transfer, these tags will ensure your bags make it to the right destination.
    - Road book: Maps and touristic information for the tour

    As part of the Tour Operator's eco-responsible approach to reducing their footprint, they offer the option (free of charge) to receive maps and tourist information in paper format. In all cases, all information is provided in paperless format.

  • Will I receive travel information?

    Yes, the trip includes a personalized welcome on the first day of your journey. The Tour Operator will provide you with travel documents and bikes (if renting). There will be 24/7 telephone assistance service to meet all your needs.

  • Some reminders

    - It's advised to arrive late in the afternoon on the first day of the tour. All your hotels during the tour will have rooms ready from 3:00pm.
    - Welcome meetings are often scheduled by 6:00pm at the first hotel
    - The end of the tour will be after breakfast on the final day
    - Distances indicated on the itinerary are approximates only. It can vary up to 5km (3.1mi) each day

    You will be provided with a roadbook containing all the essential addresses, restaurant recommendations, tourist information, detailed maps, and a complete description of the route.
