Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrival Day

Welcome to Cambodia! Check in to the hotel is any time from 2pm. If you’re flying in to Phnom Penh today, the tour operator will arrange your airport transfer. Spend your day exploring this great city until the group arrives and you’ll meet up in the evening for a welcome dinner at Romdeng, part of the Friends International Social Enterprise Franchise. Not only a great restaurant, but a fantastic training ground for marginalized youth. You’ll jump into the culinary deep end with an array of local feasts.

    • Mito Hotel, Phnom Penh
    • Dinner
  2. Day 2Friends International, S-21 and BBQ

You’ll start the day by meeting the incredible people at Friends International and learn about the wonderful work they do within the community. This is a great insight into REAL local everyday issues, from real local everyday heroes. You'll then venture towards the Russian market and move to Tuol Sleng, also known as S-21 Genocide Museum. This devastating chapter of the Khmer Rouge and Cambodian history is emotionally challenging but strongly recommended. There is some free time in the afternoon to process your day, whilst you’ll meet again for a local Khmer BBQ dinner tonight and feast on a selection of local meats and vegetables, cooked at the group table on a communal BBQ.

  3. Day 3Phnom Penh to Kampot

Your cycling day takes you south of Phnom Penh to Chisaur Mountain Temple in rural Cambodia. You will casually cycle through remote villages and waterways, via narrow dirt tracks. This temple, at the top of a 130m (426ft)  'mountain' was built in the 11th century, about 200 years prior to Angkor Wat. You’ll have a late lunch at the base of the mountain and then jump in the van to get into Kampot for the early evening for you to explore the culinary delights of coastal Kampot at your leisure.

If cycling uphill doesn’t rock your world, the tour operator can bring your bike in the van and you can cycle down! Whilst at the top, you can take some time to explore the French ghost town of Bokor Hill Station in Preah Monivong National Park. If you feel like taking some time off the bike, Kampot is a great town to caffeinate, people watch and relax.

With a population of over a million and a thriving tourist trade, Can Tho has a vibrancy about it like none other. The ride finishes about 20km (12.4mi) out of the city, but if your legs and daylight permit, there’s an option to continue all the way in, making today's ride 100km (62mi) if you dare!

You’ll start early to beat the heat and some traffic. Cycling into Saigon for the last cycle day of the tour is an incredible experience. Ho Chi Minh is what the world would look like if cars weren’t invented. With whole lanes and roads dedicated to two wheels, it is the city of the future as the population grows. The last 12 km (7.5mi) will be where you can rest up and transit into the city centre itself via the support van.
